Fulham storm to victory at Newcastle
Newcastle 1 Fulham 3
Ryan Sessegnon scored twice in a stunning Fulham victory at St James’ Park.
Tom Cairney put the visitors ahead before Sessegnon’s second-half brace further enhanced the 16-year-old’s growing reputation.
Daryl Murphy pulled a goal back for Newcastle but Fulham were commanding winners and would have made it four had Tim Ream not missed a late penalty.
Beating the title-chasing Magpies continued Fulham’s march towards the top six – they are now just two points away from the play-off places.
The outstanding Cairney fired them in front with a cracking strike on the quarter-hour mark.
And Sessegnon doubled the lead six minutes into the second half with a composed finish after being teed up by Sone Aluko’s back-heel.
Aluko also set up Sessegnon’s second goal, scored eight minutes later, sending through the youngster who smashed the ball into the top corner.
Murphy curled an effort into the far corner with 15 minutes remaining but there was no way back for Newcastle, who were spared a fourth Fulham goal when Ream steered his spot-kick wide of the target after Sessegnon was fouled in the area.
