Fulham appear to be close to completing the signing of Roma’s Dutch international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
The 30-year-old, who is expected to move for a fee in the region of £3m, was set to sign for Fulham in January but the deal fell through.
His arrival would cast more doubt over the future of veteran keeper Mark Schwarzer, whose Whites contract expires this summer.
Roma’s sporting director Franco Baldini has suggested to Corriere dello Sport that a deal has already been agreed for Stekelenburg’s move to Craven Cottage.
“I went to London for the sale of Stekelenburg to Fulham,” Baldini has been quoted as saying.
“There were questions to be answered, but I closed the deal subject to the usual conditions.”
Stekelenburg previously played under Fulham boss Martin Jol at Ajax.
