Fulham have told Blackburn they will not be allowed to speak to Billy McKinlay about manager’s job at the Championship club unless compensation is agreed.
McKinlay, first-team coach at Craven Cottage, has emerged as a contender for the position at Rovers after they failed to land Tim Sherwood.
The Scot spent five years as a player at Ewood Park, playing 104 times for the club. He is also the current Northern Ireland assistant manager.
Blackburn have been looking for a new manager since sacking ex-Fulham coach Steve Kean last month.
