Joy for Symons after derby triumph
Kit Symons said he was delighted to have given Fulham fans a derby victory to savour after his team crushed neighbours QPR 4-0 at Craven Cottage.
Ross McCormack scored twice and there were also goals for Moussa Dembele and Ben Pringle in a totally one-sided game.
Whites boss Symons declared: “It was pleasing with it being a local derby. It was a massive night for everyone connected with the football club.
“I wanted to make sure our fans had the bragging rights and they’ll be crowing after that – and rightly so.”
The win was Fulham’s third in four league matches and lifted them into the top half of the table.
Their fortunes have certainly improved since a stuttering start to the season which included Symons being barracked by fans after the draw at home to Huddersfield last month.
“Not long ago it was ‘Symons out’ after the Huddersfield game but we were doing the right things – we were just waiting for things to click and fall into place,” Symons said.
“It did tonight and that will give us great confidence without a doubt. We now need to make sure this kind of performance becomes the norm and we start moving up the table.
“Today we had a great day at the office and I’m very pleased.”
