Fulham edged out in friendly in Germany
Fulham were beaten 1-0 by a strong Werder Bremen side in a pre-season friendly at the Weser-Stadion.
Summer signing Maarten Stekelenburg featured in goal for the Whites and produced two excellent saves in the first half.
But the Dutch keeper could not stop Nils Petersen, who skipped past him before tapping into an empty net 10 minutes after the break.
The Whites were denied an equaliser when youngster Mesca Na Bangna’s late effort was well saved.
Martin Jol’s side are next in action a week on Monday, when they host Spanish club Real Betis at Craven Cottage.
Fulham: Stekelenburg; Riether, Hangeland, Amorebieta (Hughes 67), Richardson (Briggs 85); Dejagah (Duff 45), Derek Boateng (Karagounis 61), Sidwell (David 85), Kacaniklic (Mesca 29), Berbatov (Rodallega 72); Ruiz (Kasami 72).
