The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal, with the Whites having the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

This will be his second spell in England after he joined Arsenal as a 16-year-old from Sporting Lisbon.
His only competitive appearance for the Gunners was in a League Cup win over Wigan in November 2008, but he also had a loan spell with Crystal Palace.
The younger brother of West Ham and Portugal defender Jose Fonte, he returned to Sporting Lisbon in 2009 and later played for Vitoria Setubal, Espanyol and Benfica.
He is the Whites’ eighth summer signing, although Lucas Piazon has since suffered a broken ankle.
