Fulham boss confirms Ruiz can go
Fulham have told Bryan Ruiz he can leave Craven Cottage this month and the player is in talks with a number of clubs, boss Rene Meulensteen has confirmed.
The Costa Rican forward has fallen out of favour under Meulensteen and has not featured since the Whites’ thrashing at Hull in December.
Ruiz, 28, is speaking to clubs from Holland and Spain, including La Liga side Real Betis, and is close to leaving Fulham after two-and-a-half-years in west London. PSV Eindhoven are understood to have shown an interest.
Meulensteen said: “We have allowed Bryan to speak to a number of clubs. We will see if something comes out of that.
“There is some contact with clubs in Spain, Betis are one of them, and Holland would be another option. He will look at what suits him best.”
Meulensteen added: “Bryan’s got a World Cup coming up and needs to play. He’s a good player.
“I wouldn’t call him an expensive mistake – he was the right choice and the right investment at the time.”
