Fulham beat Aston Villa in Portugal

Matt Smith, Alex Kacaniklic and Ross McCormack scored as Fulham opened their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win against Aston Villa in Portugal.

Smith gave the Whites a first-half lead when he met Thomas Eisfeld’s right-wing cross.

Libor Kozak equalised early in the second half, set up by ex-Chelsea mam Joe Cole, but Kacaniklic restored Fulham’s lead with a blistering shot which went in off the bar.

And McCormack sealed the win with a tidy finish after being set up by Adam Taggart.

Andy Lonergan, making his Fulham debut, produced impressive saves either side of the interval.
