Fulham ease to victory in Cork City friendly
Stevie Humphrys grabbed another brace – his fourth in two games – and Matt Smith was also on target as Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham won 3-0 at Cork City in a friendly on Saturday.
New signing Floyd Ayite was included in a strong starting line-up, augmented by highly-rated youngsters Humphrys and Ryan Sessegnon.
And the Togolese midfielder was the architect of the opening goal on 15 minutes, as his cross was turned in by Humphrys.
The 18-year-old scored twice in a training match against Cobh Ramblers on Wednesday and he was again a handful at Turner’s Cross, against a Cork side who recently began their Europa League qualifying campaign.
On 24 minutes, shortly after Sessegnon had seen a shot saved, Humphyrs scored again, this time after an error that saw a defender’s header loop over the goalkeeper.
Only a save prevented Humphrys completing a hat-trick before the break, when Fulham made wholesale changes.
Cauley Woodrow twice went close in the second half but the Whites added a third when Smith nodded in Sean Kavanagh’s cross.
