Fulham must be calm and solid – Jokanovic

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic wants his side to combine aggression with cool heads after watching his side battle back against Norwich having conceded two first-half penalties.

Scott Malone was the guilty party for both spot-kicks, bringing down Jacob Murphy and then being adjudged to have hauled Cameron Jerome to the floor, as the Canaries led 2-0 at the break.

The Whites stormed back in the second half to level, something Jokanovic was proud of – but he felt his side had almost paid the price for not being strong enough.

He said: “We are not a typical Championship team – we need to be more aggressive, more compact. But it’s important to be professional, be calm and more solid.

“We didn’t play a bad game first half, it would have been 0-0 but we made two big mistakes, two penalties, and we’re going in two goals down.

“In the second half, we showed good character, good enthusiasm and energy. We played very good football, scored two goals and could have scored more – generally I have to be satisfied.”

Jokanovic took off right-back Dennis Odoi early in the second half, replacing him with Ryan Fredericks, who was making his first appearance of the season following injury.

“The thinking was to try and be faster, to try to attack from this [right-hand] side,” Jokanovic said.

“We were two goals down, we had to be more offensive, play with more ambition and take more risks.”
