Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts featured as Fulham’s youngsters lost 3-1 at Manchester City in the Under-21 Premier League on Friday.
Thierry Ambrose opened the scoring for the hosts, who were then reduced to 10 men when Jack Byrne was sent off.
They nevertheless doubled their lead five minutes into the second half courtesy of Brandon Barker’s penalty.
Ange-Freddy Plumain pulled a goal back eight minutes later but Fulham were unable to find an equaliser and Bersant Celina netted a late third for City.
City started strongly and the impressive Barker crossed for Ambrose to head home after nine minutes.
Olivier Ntcham almost made it 2-0 with a thumping effort which hit the post and the home side were well on top before Byrne was red-carded just after the half-hour mark for a reckless challenge on Jonathan Buatu.
After Barker scored from the spot following Liam Donnelly’s foul on Jose Pozo, Fulham hit back when Plumain finished after great work by the lively Mesca.
Mesca and Dembele [pictured] both came close to levelling before Celina had the simple task of scoring from close range after Pozo’s shot had been cleared off the line.
