McCormack was not fit enough to play – Jokanovic

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic insisted Ross McCormack was not fit enough to play against Hull.

McCormack is subject of a bid from Middlesbrough – their second offer for the Scotland international during this month’s transfer window.

And Jokanovic, who watched his side lose for a third time in four Championship games, this time 1-0 at home to Hull, also suggested McCormack was not in the right frame of mind to play.

“Ross didn’t play because yesterday he was sick and he has had some some physical problems after the last game,” he said

“He has only trained once this week so he didn’t appear in the squad. I don’t believe physically he was ready to play.

McCormack has been a key player for Fulham this season

“Psychologically, I understand there is much rumour and speculation, and I understand McCormack too.

“Ross is a professional and has a family, and he is thinking about the solution and the best steps for him. I understand that.

“I also understand clubs have interest and are thinking about him because he is one of the best Championship players and our best player too.

“But people need to understand Fulham too, and if they understand the situation that we don’t need money, we need other things, then this is very clear.

“Everything will be clearer in seven days or so but, let me be clear, I do not want to sell anyone and we are not in a situation to sell our best players.”

Fulham were beaten by a late penalty, converted by Abel Hernandez after Lasse Vigen Christensen brought down Moses Odubajo in the box.

And Jokanovic said: “We played very well for 65-70 minutes and had lots of possession, but we didn’t attack the last four defenders.

“It was a definite penalty. They caught as and we made a mistake. I’m really disappointed.”
