Fifa scupper Ruiz’s loan move to Levante

Bryan Ruiz is to remain at Fulham after his proposed loan switch to Levante collapsed.

Ruiz agreed deal with the La Liga side late on the night of 30 January, just as Spain’s transfer deadline passed.

The move needed ratification from Fifa, and Fulham boss Kit Symons admitted last week the striker was ‘in limbo’, but it has now been rejected.

Symons said: “All of the necessary paperwork was finalised here in time for this to be completed, so it’s a situation that we can unfortunately do nothing about.

“I’ll speak to Bryan and would obviously like to have him back playing for us as soon as possible.

“It’s a tough knock for him but he’s a great character and loves his football, so I know he’ll just want to get on and play.”

Ruiz, 29, has scored four times in 17 Championship appearances for the Whites this season and is out of contract in the summer.
