Diarra is not joining Panathinaikos – agent

Mahamadou Diarra’s agent has insisted that the midfielder will not be joining Panathinaikos and is waiting to see if Fulham offer him a new deal.

The 32-year-old has been training with Martin Jol’s side despite his previous contract at Craven Cottage expiring at the end of last season.

Fulham plan to assess Diarra’s fitness before deciding whether to offer him a contract and his representative, Frederic Guerra, has strongly denied reports the Malian is about to move to Greece.

“It is not true that Panathinaikos have made him an offer,” said Guerra.

“We are still waiting to see if Fulham offer him a new contract.”

Diarra was released after an injury ravaged season saw him make only eight appearances for the Whites, having twice undergone surgery on his left knee.

Fulham boss Jol suggested last week that Diarra was “three or four weeks” away from being fit enough to play and that he will then make a decision on the ex-Real Madrid man’s future.
