Dembele’s equaliser secures a point for Fulham
MK Dons 1 Fulham 1
Moussa Dembele earned a point for managerless Fulham with his ninth goal of the season.
The striker flicked home Ross McCormack’s low cross just before half-time after missing an open goal moments earlier.
Dean Bowditch had given MK Dons a first-half lead with a neat turn and shot that found the net via the far post.
Both sides had chances to win the game and McCormack saw a late effort cleared off the line by Kyle McFadzean.
The Whites had hoped to have Kit Symons’ successor in place after two weeks of discussions, but instead first-team coach Peter Grant presided over the team.
His side spent most of the first half chasing their opponents and Joe Lewis was forced into two early saves to deny Bowditch and Ben Reeves before Bowditch netted on 30 minutes.
On-loan Everton defender Luke Garbutt cleared another Bowditch effort off the line before Dembele missed a glorious chance from five yards out, firing McCormack’s cut-back over the bar.
But Dembele redeemed himself on the stroke of half-time with a near-identical chance that reaped the equaliser.
The Dons had the better of the second half and went closest when Nicky Maynard fired Jordan Spence’s low cross from the right just over the crossbar.
But McCormack could have stolen three point for the Whites when his low shot towards the corner from inside the box was blocked by McFadzean.
