Jol names teenage Fulham prospect in his squad for Swansea match
Fulham manager Martin Jol has included highly-rated 17-year-old striker Moussa Dembele in his squad for Saturday’s match against Swansea.
The France Under-17s international has impressed in the Whites’ Under-21 squad in recent weeks and has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage.
With forward Hugo Rodallega still missing with injury, Jol has been forced to introduce Dembele to the senior squad despite the player having made only five appearances for the Under-21s so far.
Jol said: “Dembele turned 17 just four weeks so I don’t expect too much.
“You get all these talks about bringing in youngsters but you don’t see players this young in the Premier League.
“You maybe see players at 20 and 21, and Moussa is certainly young, but he’s a talented boy.
“I have only got Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Bent because I have an injury to Hugo so I have included Moussa Demebele in the squad for tomorrow.”
Dembele signed for Fulham from Paris Saint-Germain in 2012.
He scored more than 30 goals in two seasons for the Whites’ Under-18 side before being promoted to the Under-21s this season.
Matthew Briggs is the club’s youngest ever Premier League player, having made his debut at 16 against Middlesbrough in 2007.
