Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has been encouraged by the progress of Marcello Trotta on loan at Brentford and has suggested the youngster could have a future at Craven Cottage.
The Italy Under-21 striker has been in prolific form for the Bees, scoring four goals in his last five games and eight this season.
Meulensteen allowed Trotta to rejoin Brentford until the end of the campaign last week and says he rates the 21-year-old as one of Fulham’s best prospects.
“Trotta is another youngster we’ve been pleased with,” he said.
“Loans are always a little bit of a gamble but for him it’s worked. He’s doing well, playing his football and scoring goals.
“He’s similar to Dan Burn [on loan at Birmingham] – another player whose progress we have to make sure keeps going.”
Meulensteen added: “All our guys out on loan are potentially very good players and we always look at the best pathway forward for them.
“We discuss as and when what we’re going to do with their futures at Fulham.”
