Fulham boss confirms bid for Taylor

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen has confirmed the club have tabled a bid for Swansea left-back Neil Taylor.

The Whites head coach is keen to strengthen his back four, with Fulham having conceded a total of 11 goals in their last four league games, and he had bid for Leicester’s Liam Moore rejected last week.

Taylor, 24 and a Wales international, has been out of favour at the Liberty Stadium and his representatives recently indicated he was keen to find first-team football elsewhere.

“We’ve put in a bid and it’s still on the table,” Meulensteen said.

“I rate him. I rated him even at the time of that unfortunate, horrific injury he got a couple of years ago.

“At that time he was really playing at his best and I thought he had top-four qualities.”

Reports suggest Fulham’s offer, said to be £4m, has been rejected.

Taylor, who signed for the Swans from Wrexham in 2010, has made only 11 appearances this season.

He missed most of last term after suffering a serious ankle injury in a match against Sunderland in September 2012.
