Berbatov injured as Fulham are beaten

Dimitar Berbatov picked up an injury as Fulham’s season continued to peter out.

Steven Pienaar’s goal was enough to give Everton a deserved win at Goodison Park and condemn the Whites to their fourth defeat in five matches.

Pienaar finished well after being found by Seamus Coleman’s low cross in the 16th minute.

Worse followed for the visitors when their talisman Berbatov went off on the half-hour mark and they also lost Kieran Richardson to injury early in the second half.

They nevertheless put the home side under a spell of pressure and almost equalised when Urby Emanuelson shot wide from 10 yards out.

However, Everton stood firm and should have doubled their lead but Marouane Fellaini contrived to miss the target after being picked out by Leighton Baines.
