QPR youngster targets regular first-team spot

Michael Petrasso believes his pace and skill out wide will eventually see him become a regular in the QPR side.

The 20-year-old made only the third start of his Rangers career in Monday’s 1-0 defeat by Burnley.

He joined the club in 2013 from Toronto FC and had to learn his trade during loan spells at Oldham, Coventry, Leyton Orient and Notts County.

But he told QPR’s website he feels he is now ready for a run in the team.

Petrasso said: “I have been waiting patiently on the bench, and getting minutes here and there, so it was great to start.

“I thought I played well. I had a couple of chances to score and hopefully I can continue from here and get more minutes.

“I have been involved in and around the team for two or three years now. Hopefully I can gain more experience now, get more minutes off the bench and become a regular.

“I am at the stage now where I need to prove myself to be a major contender for a spot in the side.”

Petrasso, a Canada Under-23 international who has also made a couple of senior squads, also explained what he feels he can bring to the Rangers side.

“My game revolves around dribbling and pace,” he said.

“I try to take my opportunities when I can in the wide areas and take people on. I will try and stick to that and hopefully I will succeed.”
