Willian: I was right to sign for Chelsea rather than Tottenham
In an interview with The Sun, Willian states that he was right to join Chelsea rather than Tottenham and insists he did not have a medical at the north London club.
Willian signed for the Blues in the summer after being widely reported to have undergone a medical ahead of a proposed move to White Hart Lane.
Spurs’ former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas had indicated that he was signing the Brazilian, who ended up at Stamford Bridge – much to the delight of Blues fans.
“Never once did I say I was going to sign for Tottenham, or Liverpool or for anyone else in the summer,” said Willian.
“There were negotiations going on with other clubs, as well as Chelsea, that my people were having.
“Chelsea were interested in me and when they made an offer this time I didn’t think twice. My heart was already at Chelsea.
“I didn’t sign a contract for Tottenham or have a medical. During the negotiations there was talk about a medical but it never happened. I made absolutely the right decision to come to Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos is again linked with a move to Chelsea, this time by the Daily Mirror.
The Spain defender is reported to have fallen out with Real president Florentino Perez.
And the Daily Star say Chelsea are willing to sell David Luiz in January, with Barcelona set to renew their interest in the Brazilian.
