All three of west London’s Championship sides kick off their league season today, with Brentford hosting Ipswich, and QPR and Fulham making the trips to Cardiff and Cardiff respectively. It looks like being a terrific day of football.
We at BetVictor fancy Brentford to start the new season with a win and make them even-money favourites to beat Mick McCarthy’s side at Griffin Park.
Rangers are 6/4 favourites to win in the London derby at The Valley and while that may appear to be on the skinny side, the 12/5 for Fulham beat the Bluebirds certainly isn’t.
Ross McCormack and Matt Smith were a revelation during their time together at Leeds United and look set to start up front for the Whites – goals look inevitable in the Welsh capital.
McCormack is 6/1 to open the scoring but Smith looks the value at 8s to break the deadlock and 13/5 with BetVictor to score anytime during the 90 minutes.
The Championship remains a wide-open affair with last year’s bridesmaids Derby and Middlesbrough heading the market as the 5/1 and 6/1 title favourites.
Brentford, QPR and Fulham all boast excellent each-way claims at 12/1, 16/1 and 25s respectively, with Brentford the most fascinating of the trio after an excellent debut season in the second tier.
Mark Warburton has been replaced at the helm by Dutchman Marinus Dijkhuizen and the Bees have been well supported in the market for promotion throughout the summer and are now just 7/2 (from 5/1 at the start of the season) with BetVictor to be playing Premier League football next term.
QPR are 11/2 to bounce straight back after last year’s relegation and Fulham 8/1 to return to the top flight.
