Transfer gossip: Chelsea boss reportedly planning big spending spree

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is planning to spend £140m before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, the Sunday Express say.

Claiming an ‘exclusive’, the newspaper say Chelsea are looking to tie up deals to sign Kalidou Koulibaly, Romelu Lukaku and Santos midfielder Thiago Maia, who have all been heavily linked with the Blues for some time.

The Sunday Express says it understands the Italian has been frustrated by demands of £50m for Napoli defender Koulibaly and had a £42m bid for Everton’s former Chelsea striker Lukaku rejected last week.

The newspaper adds that Chelsea want to sign Thiago Maia, 19, after his involvement with Brazil in the Olympics and are willing to spend £15m on him.

Conte has been linked with a host of players this summer

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi has again been linked with a move to Turkey.

Turkish media reports suggest Mikel, who has also been linked with Besiktas, is wanted by Galatasaray.
