Chelsea likely to be too good for Liverpool, while QPR must respond

No question that the big game of the final weekend of 2013 is at Stamford Bridge where Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool, who were top of the Premier League table at Christmas, meet Chelsea.

The Blues went into the Boxing Day fixtures 4/1 for the title with Manchester City 11/10, Arsenal 9/2 and Liverpool 5s at BetVictor and we consider it a four-runner race at this stage despite Everton’s continued excellence and Manchester United’s recent resurgence.

Liverpool are 11/4 to produce a shock this weekend, with the draw at 5/2.

Fernando Torres would love to put one over on his old side, especially with the recent media frenzy surrounding Liverpool’s current superstar Luis Suarez.

Suarez is 5/1 to score the opening goal and 13/10 to find the back of the net at any time at the Bridge, with Torres 6s and Frank Lampard 8s.

I expect Chelsea to be too good for a Liverpool side who have plenty of pace and are dangerous on the break but might find this a Bridge too far.

Chelsea are 11/8 at BetVictor to remain unbeaten at home in the 2013/14 season and that might be just too big despite the fact that West Brom could and probably should have already won earlier in the campaign.

QPR are at Watford and remain 5/4 favourites for the Championship title.

They are 29/20 to beat the Hornets, who are 21/10 and the draw 12/5.

Charlie Austin is 4/1 to score the opening goal on Sunday and I don’t think there will be many goals in the game.

Rangers to nil is priced at 7/2 and I think new Watford manager Beppe Sannino is unlikely to play as expansive a game as his predecessor Gianfranco Zola.

Best wishes for a happy and successful 2014.
