The smart money could be on Chelsea giving Newcastle a real thrashing

Chelsea were catapulted back into the title picture with their 1-0 win at Manchester City on Monday.

Jose Mourinho got the tactics spot on and the Blues have now kept clean sheets in away trips to City, Manchester United and Arsenal.

BetVictor have now cut Chelsea to 21/10 (from 7/2) for the Premier League with City pushed out to 10/11 (from 4/6).

Mourinho insists that Chelsea are out of the title race – but the bookmakers aren’t biting and expect them to take another three points when Newcastle visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

BetVictor make Chelsea warm 1/4 favourites, Newcastle 14/1 and the draw 5/1 and it would be deemed an almighty shock should Chelsea not win and win well.

The Magpies were awful in the Tyne-Wear derby, losing 3-0 to Sunderland, and were unable to find a replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who was sold to PSG for £20m during the January transfer window.

Oscar looks likely to return to the starting line-up, which could be the cue for a bloodbath at the Bridge – and value with the correct-score markets.

Although Chelsea have hardly battered teams this year they have hinted at it and Saturday could be the day for them to explode into life. A 4-0 win is 12/1 with BetVictor, 5-0 25/1 and 6-0 80/1.

Chelsea travel to West Brom on Tuesday and it is difficult to see them slipping up in that game either.

They are 8/13 favourites, with West Brom 21/4 and the draw 14/5.
