Sporting unwilling to sell, says chief

Sporting Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho has told Portuguese newspaper A Bola that the club are not looking to sell their best players in January.

The likes of the Daily Express have suggested that Chelsea are keen on Sporting players such as Diego Capel, Rui Patricio and William Carvalhas.

It is claimed that Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal are also interested.

De Carvalho said: “The club has decided that there will be no sales in January.

“The club is leading the division for the first time in nine years and we are determined to fight for the title.

“Only if a ridiculous offer is put in for a player will it be studied.”

The Express also say Chelsea face competition from Paris St-Germain for the signing of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

Blues manager Jose Mourinho is said to be keen to bring in the Spain international, who played under him at the La Liga club.

Real’s former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Ramos is not for sale.

Ancelotti said: “Everyone knows the importance of Ramos, technically, and what he has achieved at this club.

“I do not know his relationship with the president. The president has a very good relationship with all players.”

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard say Kevin De Bruyne is determined to leave Chelsea.

The Belgian has attracted interest from a number of clubs but is believed to favour a move to German side Wolfsburg.

And the Daily Star claim picture of Luis Suarez shopping in London fuels rumours the Liverpool striker could join Chelsea or Arsenal.

Finally, the Daily Mail say former Chelsea man Yossi Benayoun has joined QPR on an 18-month contract.
