Speculation continues over the futures of QPR’s Austin and Phillips

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea and QPR…

West Ham have moved ahead of Newcastle in a race to sign Charlie Austin, the Daily Star say.

Newcastle have been widely tipped to sign the striker but QPR, who want £15m for him, have not received an approach.

Now it is claimed that recently-appointed manager Slaven Bilic has told West Ham’s board he wants to sign Austin, who has a year left on his Rangers contract.

A number of clubs have been linked with Austin in recent weeks

There has also been speculation over the future of Austin’s team-mate Matty Phillips in the wake of QPR’s relegation.

And The Sun say West Brom boss Tony Pulis is closing in on £7m deal to sign the winger, who is keen to move on.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has been knocked back after an attempt to capture Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal in an exchange deal involving Petr Cech, the Daily Mirror say.

It is claimed that Chelsea manager Mourinho was keen to land the England international, 21, but that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger rejected the approach and wants to sign goalkeeper Cech for £10m.

The Daily Mail say Wenger is trying to sign Cech for £11m but that Mourinho does not want to sell to Premier League rival and would rather the 32-year-old joined Paris St-Germain, who are apparently interested.

There has been speculation over Cech’s future for several months
