QPR v Walsall player ratings
Bobby Zamora scored his second goal in as many games and recent signing Jose Bosingwa netted on his full debut, but the man of the moment was Alejandro Faurlin. Here’s how we rated the players in QPR’s 3-0 win over Walsall.
Robert Green: 5
An uncomfortable night for Rangers’ under-fire keeper, who flapped at a rare shot at his goal and looked shaky throughout.
Jose Bosingwa: 7
The perfect game for Bosingwa to make his full debut. His ability going forward has never been in doubt and on good days he could be compared to the likes of Clement and Bardsley. Against a side which posed little threat he was always going to look comfortable. Other games will test him defensively and reveal how much he has left in his legs.
Anton Ferdinand: 6
Rarely tested and did the basics well.
Ryan Nelsen: 6
Calm debut from the New Zealander, who could be an important squad player this season.
Fabio: 7
Like Bosingwa, was able to do what he does well on a comfortable night for Rangers.
Shaun Wright-Phillips: 7
A good display and a deserved goal. The challenge for Wright-Phillips is to take his form against lower-division and pre-season opposition into the league.
Alejandro Faurlin: 7
Very nice return for the popular midfielder before he faces the rigours of the Premier League again. Used the ball well, showing off his range of passing, and comfortably completed the 90 minutes.
Ji-sung Park: 6
A solid night’s work from the captain, who played an important role alongside the returning Faurlin.
Junior Hoilett: 6
Still finding his feet but might have been expected to look more authoritative in this game.
Andrew Johnson: 7
Worked hard to try and make an impression and was unlucky not to score in the first half.
Bobby Zamora: 8
A surprise inclusion after Mark Hughes had assumed he would not play because of a head wound sustained at Norwich. Produced an impressive display, scoring a lovely goal and creating the opener for Wright-Phillips.
Kieron Dyer: 7
Did well after coming on and set up Zamora for Rangers’ second goal.
Armand Traore: 6
Caused Walsall some problems on the flank after replacing Wright-Phillips midway through the second half.
Djibril Cisse: 6
Unlucky not to score shortly after coming on for Zamora.

I was impressed by Nelson, always talking and organising the back four, as you say a good squad player

I agree with most of what you wrote but I’m surprised you rated Fabio so highly. He has not convinced me so far and his heart or head doesn’t seem to be in the game. On the other hand, I thought Nelson was really commanding and had a great attitude throughout the game. He would clear the ball without hesitation, even if it looked like someone else should be clearing it.
