QPR v Preston player ratings

QPR were unable to find a way past a resolute Preston side that has kept six consecutive clean sheets. Here’s how we rated Rangers’ players in the 0-0 draw.

Rob Green: 7
A spectator for much of the game but produced an excellent save when called upon, keeping out Bailey Wright’s late header.

Karl Henry: 7
Moved to right-back – a position he had plenty of success in prior to his move to QPR – and had a decent game. Defended solidly and was reasonable on the ball despite his confidence being shaken by recent venomous critcism from fans.

Nedum Onuoha: 7
One of several Rangers players who has undperformed this season, this was more like Onuoha at his best. Strong, decisive and determined.

Grant Hall: 8
Brought in by sacked head coach Chris Ramsey as one for the future, Hall continues to impress. Once again he was excellent at the heart of Rangers’ defence.

Paul Konchesky: 6
Not overly involved but performed adequately and gave his centre-backs good cover on the occasions Preston threatened.

Sandro: 7
Declared himself fit to play and performed well for the hour or so he was on the pitch.

Alejandro Faurlin: 7
Preston’s set-up in the first half was a gift for Faurlin, with virtually no pressure being put on the ball, enabling the popular midfielder to knock it around at will. He did so to good effect. Found the going much tougher after North End boss Simon Grayson made changes though.

Matt Phillips: 6
Tried to make things happen and had some good moments. But the out-of-form winger was again well short of his best.

Leroy Fer: 6
A frustrating afternoon for the Dutchman. While Preston defending deep helped Faurlin, it did Fer no favours in the more advanced position he operated in before moving alongside Faurlin after Sandro went off.

Junior Hoilett: 7
Given a starting place by Neil Warnock and repaid the interim boss with a lively first-half showing. Was less effective after the interval.

Charlie Austin: 6
Managed a couple of long-range attempts on goal but overall had a frustrating match as Rangers struggled to create clear-cut chances.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas: 6
Produced some nice link-up play after coming on but was unable to unlock Preston’s superb defence.
