QPR v Leeds player ratings
Charlie Austin scored with his first touch after coming on as a substitute to give QPR a deserved win. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player against Leeds.
Rob Green: 6
Lucky in the first half when his rash decision to rush out of his box went unpunished. Was rarely called into action.
James Perch: 6
A solid performance at the back, although he was hardly tested by a poor Leeds side.
Grant Hall: 7
Another excellent display from the defender, who snuffed out any danger that came his way and dealt well with the physical presence of Chris Wood.
Nedum Onuoha: 7
Played well and went close with a thunderous 25-yard drive that whistled just over the bar.
Paul Konchesky: 6
Also rarely tested, but had to defend resolutely in the final 10 minutes and was quick to avert the danger when a dangerous late cross threatened QPR late on.
Michael Petrasso: 7
Handed his first QPR start and the Canadian was a lively presence on the right of midfield. Deserves a run in the side on this evidence.
Sandro: 7
The Brazilian flew into a number of challenges in the first half – he has to be careful when launching off the ground into a tackle. He allowed Alejandro Faurlin to be the creative spark in the middle.
Alejandro Faurlin: 8
A fine game from Faurlin, whose great corner led to the goal. He also came close himself with a 25-yard effort that curled just wide. If he and Sandro can stay fit there’s a really exciting partnership in the making.
Yun Suk-Young: 6
Worked hard off the ball and tried to get involved going forward, but struggled to make an impact.
Junior Hoilett: 7
A good display on his return to the side. Workmanlike rather than spectacular, and certainly a willing runner.
Matt Phillips: 7
Worked hard up front and in wide areas.
Charlie Austin: 8
Made an immediate impact, although he was gifted space to head home. He was also denied 10 minutes later by a stunning save from Marco Silvestri.
Tjaronn Chery: 7
Lively after coming on. Always looked for the ball and was part of the double act that helped to push the game further in Rangers’ favour. Perhaps needs a few cameo appearances like this one to build his confidence and regain the form of his first few games.
