QPR v Cardiff player ratings
Cardiff came back from two down to deny QPR a first league win of the season. Here’s how we rated the Rangers players in Saturday’s 2-2 draw.
Rob Green: 6
Made a couple of decent stops in the first half but could do nothing about either of Cardiff’s goals.
James Perch: 6
A steady home debut from the summer signing, although he could have closed down Scott Malone quicker in the build-up to Cardiff’s equaliser.
Nedum Onuoha: 8
Another strong defensive display from the QPR captain, typified by an excellent tackle in his own box to thwart Joe Mason.
Clint Hill: 7
Lost his marker well to head home QPR’s first league goal of the season and provided the assist – perhaps with his arm – for the R’s second. Later caught out by Sean Morrison, though, in the build up to Cardiff’s first goal,
Paul Konchesky: 6
Beaten on a couple of occasions. He was praised by boss Chris Ramsey, but on another day he might have been punished by the opposition.
Karl Henry: 7
Passed well and got stuck in. A typical, unspectacular, Henry performance.
Massimo Luongo: 6
Struggled to make an impact in the first half. Moved further forward when Tjaronn Chery went off and improved.
Matty Phillips: 7
Lively throughout and provided a number of excellent balls into the box, including the corners that led to Rangers’ goals. Failed to hit the net with some good opportunities though.
Tjaronn Chery: 6
A mixed home debut for the Dutchman. Having wasted two early corners that both cleared everyone in the box, Chery showed flashes of his undoubted talent before being taken off early in the second half.
Ben Gladwin: 6
An industrious first half saw the summer signing provide a good attacking threat. Faded in the second, but can be pleased with his display.
Charlie Austin: 7
Struggled to get into the game in the first half, but was on hand when it mattered to chest home from two yards to make it 2-0. Nearly had a second, but former Rangers defender Matt Connolly cleared his shot off the line.
Michael Doughty: 6
Covered ground well and was strong in the tackle – provided impetus as the R’s tried, unsuccessfully, to seal the win.
Sebastian Polter: 6
Set up Jay Emmanuel-Thomas late on, but was lucky not be punished when caught on the ball inside his own half.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas: 6
Put himself about and very nearly sealed three points for QPR seconds before Malone’s strike, but his shot went inches wide. He should have scored.
