Austin insists on Twitter that he missed game because of injury
Charlie Austin posted on Twitter after being left out of the squad for QPR’s friendly against Atalanta and insisted his omission was because he was not fully fit.
Austin has been nursing a slight groin injury and Rangers say he was not fit enough to feature in Sunday’s pre-season game at Loftus Road.
His absence from the team inevitably fuelled speculation that the striker is set to move.
QPR have not received an approach for Austin since turning down a bid from Leicester last month, but there have been a host of reports suggesting the likes of Newcastle and West Ham are battling to sign him.
Austin tweeted: “Only trained twice this week that is why I’m not playing today don’t panic.”

QPR drew 1-1 after Jay Emmanuel-Thomas equalised just after the hour mark to cancel out Atalanta’s first-half opener.
