Pitshanger Park set to be turned into a new sporting hub

Visitors to Ealing’s Pitshanger Park will soon be able to enjoy a new community tennis and sports centre.

Will To Win, the firm which runs the tennis and five-a-side football facility in Lammas Park, is turning Pitshanger Park into a sporting hub for local residents and visitors.

It has built eight tennis courts – four of them floodlit – and a full programme of coaching for children and adults began on 13 April.

A multi-use games area and a renovated cafe, changing room and toilets are under construction and are on target to be completed within a year.

Will To Win also operates a community sports centre at Chiswick Park and has just started to run tennis programmes in parks and commons across Richmond borough.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “The tennis centre at Pitshanger Park is set to be another first-class sporting facility for the borough.

“I hope it will encourage more people to get involved in grassroots sport and continue to live out the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic games.

“I also hope the centre will help to develop another Fred Perry, who played tennis at the nearby Brentham Club in Pitshanger.”

Will To Win director Steve Riley added: “We’re delighted that we’re able to restore these once derelict community facilities back to their former glory.

“We want to develop a centre which, like Lammas Park, is sympathetic to the local environment and which enables local people to be active and enjoy sport in an affordable way.”
