Demba Ba has claimed his January move from Newcastle to Chelsea effectively marked the beginning of his career.
The striker starred for the Magpies and West Ham prior to joining the Blues, but in an interview with The Independent, Ba insisted that his aim was always to secure move to a top club.
He explained: “When they said, ‘You are going to Chelsea’ I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s like the start of my career’.
“I had always worked to get to a club like Chelsea and start winning some trophies and doing what I have got to do.
“It [his past] was serious as well. No disrespect to other clubs, it was serious. But this is another level. Something different.
“I started at the bottom, now I am at the top. Not the roof but just the top.”
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail say Andre Schurrle is set to seal move to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen after Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne was given a stark ultimatum by the German club’s sporting director Rudi Voller.
It is claimed De Bruyne was stalling over a move before Voller made it clear the Schurrle deal hinged on the 21-year-old Belgian joining Leverkusen on loan next season.
And The Guardian believe Chelsea skipper John Terry will be back on the bench for Sunday’s game at Liverpool.
