A move to Sunderland would appeal to Dawson – report
Michael Dawson will stay at Tottenham unless Sunderland table a bid for him, according to the Daily Mirror.
QPR have had an offer for Dawson accepted but he appears reluctant to make the move to Loftus Road.
Stoke are also said to be interested, but it is claimed a move to Wearside is the only one that would appeal to the 28-year-old defender, who has been told he can leave Spurs.
Otherwise, Dawson is apparently determined to stay at White Hart Lane even though he may not feature in manager Andre Villas-Boas’ first-team plans.

Quite aside from supporters loving Dawson this new manager must be very careful during media interviews. As a lifelong Tottenham supporter myself I find it refreshing that a manager has made decisions about what he wants. During a Premiership campaign weaknesses must be weeded out. Dawson is not what is required on the field for ninety minutes game by game. Like Huddlestone, his weakness with pace cannot be overcome, in Dawson’s case as a reliable central defender against top opposition. I’d hate more to see Huddlestone leave Tottenham. He’s just too good.
VDV and Dawson can be sold. If only Gio could be given a role during this campaign the squad would be enriched. Pace speed and so on are essential. While it may be possible to fit an extra ordinary play maker like Huddlestone into an eleven it is simply not possible to fit all the above mentioned with the exception of Gio into a top side. Redknapp tried to do that. It was madness.
Adebayor was the most important signature for the Tottenham team in any event this season. What’s crucial now is that Villa Boas gets the players he wants in.
We can be sure of this alone. It won’t be a player who lacks pace and speed anywhere on the pitch. No more Vdv’s, Keanes, Dawsons, Pavlyuchencos, Bentleys, O’Hara’s.

QPR or Sunderland……there’s no comparison. Put your boots in the car and head north Michael. Best of Luck and play well (except twice of course)…….a big-hearted player.

Sunderland will be getting a top pro, who gives everything when he plays, as a life long spurs fan I will be gutted to see him go. I hope avb know what his doing. Good luck mr Dawson

There’s a lot of SAFC fans around N. Yorks, so he’s maybe a SAFC fan! He would certainly be a great asset to the Club.

Dawson is from the North Yorkshire area, (Northallerton or thereabouts) so a move to Sunderland would possibly fit in with his latter years as a pro and staying in the top flight. I would love to see him in a red n white shirt, top pro. Working with ONeill back in the North East….building on recent signings…”Yeah!…why not?!”

I don’t think the problem lies with QPR but more with the bonus that Spurs players should have received from last season. Maybe thats also why there’s a hold up with Huddlestone’s move to Stoke? Or is this just a co-incidence?

Well, this is interesting. I would have thought that remaining in London would have been significant for Dawson, especially since QPR seems interested in building a decent team that won’t be relegated so easily. They’re building something, but they desperately need a defense. However, if Sunderland is where he wants to be, then he should know best, and if or when the deal is done, I wish him great success.
