Jose Mourinho believes he can clinch the signing of Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, according to the Daily Telegraph.
It is claimed that a number of possible deals for strikers have been suggested to the Chelsea boss but he feels he could well land England star Rooney in the summer and does not want stop-gap in January.
United are confident Rooney will sign a new contract at Old Trafford. The Telegraph says Arsenal are also monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror says Kevin de Bruyne is set to complete an £18m move from Chelsea to German club Wolfsburg.
And the Daily Mail reports that Thibaut Courtois will tell Mourinho he does not want to return to Chelsea unless he is the Blues’ first-choice keeper.
Courtois, currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, is quoted as saying: “My agent is currently talking with Chelsea. One of these weeks, I’ll have a chat with Jose Mourinho.
“I will never say I’m a better goalkeeper than Petr Cech. But I’m not a player anymore that you can put on the bench, I think. I will take that in mind when I take a decision.
“I can say what I think, but in the end the boss makes the decision. It is a game of supply and demand. Clubs don’t gain an advantage by taking a decision against the will of a player.”

Yes, Rooney may come but for now please buy a striker. There is Martinez and probably Diego, NOW. There is always too much panic, expectation, worry, ..... when Chelsea is playing just because of shortage of striking force!!
