Chelsea took a big step towards next season’s Champions League by beating Manchester United. Here’s how we rated the players in their victory at Old Trafford.
Petr Cech: 6
Didn’t have much to do but did the basics well with a minimum of fuss.
Cesar Azpilicueta: 7
The underrated full-back had another good game. He was solid defensively and useful when going forward.
Branislav Ivanovic: 7
Put in a very competent display at the back and was a threat in the United box at set-pieces.
David Luiz: 8
Lit up a dull first half with his trademark runs from the back. Got into mischief late in the second half but his bold passing and willingness to step into midfield made him a thorn in United’s side.
Ashley Cole: 6
Subdued by his standards. Caught out a few times defensively and was ineffective going forward.
Ramires: 7
The Brazilian gave United’s midfield no respite and was involved in Chelsea’s goal.
Frank Lampard: 6
Not at his best, and missed a decent chance in the first half. But he still showed moments of quality, including a great cross for Juan Mata in the second half.
Victor Moses: 6
Worked hard but it wasn’t his day. He had a frustrating game before being substituted with 15 minutes left.
Juan Mata: 8
Drifted in and out of the game but was always a threat to United with his clever touches and movement before coming up with the winner with the help of a deflection off Phil Jones.
Oscar: 7
Unlucky not to score with a first-half effort that was tipped onto the post. He also set up Mata for the goal.
Demba Ba: 6
Offered a physical presence up front but was generally out of sorts and missed a decent early chance.

dont rate players according to what they scored mata, oscar and ivanovic they were the key players for our win i.e look at ivanovic how many times did he save us two is oscar due to his performance made united defenders concentrate on him forgeting mata that is why mata got that chance and scored
