Michael Essien will be leaving Chelsea, agent Fabian Piveteau has said.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and will be allowed to move this month if a club come in for him.
Essien’s representatives have been keen to talk up a potential move to AC Milan despite them showing no firm interest, while Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has been made aware of his availability.
ESPN quote Piveteau as saying: “The player will leave Chelsea. I have had a lot of contact with different clubs, but Milan are not one of them – or at least I personally haven’t had direct contact with the Rossoneri.
“I have some important meetings coming up this week, and then I will fly to London to assess the best solution with the club and the player.”
