AC Milan are interested in Michael Essien, Italian media have reported.
The Serie A club are looking into the possibility of taking Essien, 31, on loan, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
They are understood to be attracted to the midfielder partly because he would be eligible to play for them in the Champions League.
Essien’s agent recently played down reports linking the Ghana international with a move to France, hinting that he could go elsewhere in Europe.
Milan chief Adriano Galliani is tipped to approach Chelsea about a potential deal.
