Ipswich v QPR player ratings

QPR were beaten by an injury-time goal at Ipswich on Boxing Day. Here’s how we rated the players in the 2-1 defeat at Portman Road.

Rob Green: 6
Occasionally hesitant on crosses, including for the winning goal when he was caught flat-footed by Luke Chambers’ header. Could do little about the equaliser though as he was sent the wrong way by Daryl Murphy’s deflected shot.

Nedum Onuoha: 6
Guilty at times of not getting tight enough to prevent Freddie Sears from getting crosses in, most notably for Chambers’ winner. Could have scored at the other end minutes earlier but his header was tipped round the post by Dean Gerken.

Gabriele Angella: 6
Put in a decent shift in the first half but he was always being asked questions by Daryl Murphy in particular.

Grant Hall: 6
Did well in the air, seeing a header go wide in the first half, but didn’t do enough to prevent the low cross which led to the equaliser.

Paul Konchesky: 6
Intently watched Sears’ injury-time cross but didn’t spot Chambers barreling into the box to thunder home the winner. Booked midway through the second half as he prevented Sears from getting through on goal.

Alejandro Faurlin: 6
Decent dead-ball delivery but failed to really stamp his mark on the midfield.

Karl Henry: 6
Put in a few blocks but will regret his part in Ipswich’s leveller, as he failed to cut out a cross and then fell over, leaving space for Jonathan Douglas to hook in.

Matt Phillips: 7
Showed brief glimpses of his best form, particularly a cute through ball that sent Leroy Fer clear, before his late substitution. He will need to have a bigger impact, though, if QPR are to climb the table.

Leroy Fer: 6
A beautifully delivered cross for Hoilett’s goal capped a decent display from the Dutchman, but he will be disappointed not to have made more of the moment he rounded keeper Gerken. Taken off after 71 minutes for Sandro.

Junior Hoilett: 7
Recovered from an early knock to head QPR in front in first-half injury time. Always a threat when running with the ball but couldn’t beat Gerken with his three other shots in the second half.

Sebastian Polter: 6
Started again with Charlie Austin ruled out but after a reasonable start, during which time he had a penalty claim waved away, he was no real threat to the Ipswich defence.
