The debacle at Hull was a major blow for Fulham following their recent revival under Rene Meulensteen. Here’s how we rated the players in their 6-0 defeat.
David Stockdale: 5
Produced good saves in the first half and was having a decent game before a dismal second period in which he made a series of errors. He should certainly have done better for Hull’s fifth and sixth goals, misjudging the ball and making a meal of what should have been routine stops.
Elsad Zverotic: 4
Looked totally lost and was beaten time after time down the flank. George Boyd, who had previously not scored in the Premier League, absolutely destroyed him.
Aaron Hughes: 4
Has to be able to do a job at the back when called upon if he is to justify having a role at the club. With the likes of Brede Hangeland out, Fulham needed to be able to rely upon an experienced campaigner like Hughes to come in and perform. He was woeful, not least when caught napping for the second goal.
Fernando Amorebieta: 5
Another foreign import who has struggled with the cut and thrust of English football. The hapless centre-back was consistently beaten and his inability to track runners was a gift to Hull.
John Arne Riise: 5
Had an early effort on goal saved and was one of his team’s best performers in a lively start. It was all downhill from then on though as the Norwegian was given the runaround at left-back.
Ashkan Dejagah: 5
Failed to trouble City before being taken off in the second half.
Steve Sidwell: 5
Also poor. Sidwell was no match for Hull’s energetic midfield and missed Scott Parker alongside him.
Giorgos Karagounis: 5
Has mostly been a joy to watch when he has featured this season but he was totally ineffective in this game. The outstanding Tom Huddlestone ran rings around Karagounis and Sidwell.
Pajtim Kasami: 5
Nothing went for him in an attacking sense and at the other end he was guilty of a number of half-hearted challenges, including in the build-up to the third goal.
Bryan Ruiz: 5
A passenger who contributed next to nothing. His poor clearance led to the first goal and the floodgates opening.
Hugo Rodallega: 5
A spectator for long spells as Hull put the visitors to the sword.
Alex Kacaniklic: 6
Came on midway through a second half in which Fulham were being overrun and he at least showed some willingness to cover ground and put a foot in.
Darren Bent: 5
Didn’t make any kind of impact after being introduced.
Hull
Steve Bruce’s side were brilliant in the second half, with the excellent Huddlestone pulling the strings. But they were helped by a Fulham side that put virtually no pressure on them.
Man of the match
Huddlestone
