Fulham v Swansea player ratings

Under-fire manager Martin Jol was again jeered by Fulham fans after another home defeat. Here’s how we rated the players in their 2-1 loss against Swansea.

Maarten Stekelenburg: 6
Made some good saves in both halves to stop the Swans extending their lead, including two brilliant blocks with his legs.

Elsad Zverotic: 6
Filling in for the suspended Sascha Riether, Zverotic worked exceptionally hard and had a decent game, but his delivery into the box from the flank was poor at times.

Aaron Hughes: 5
Hughes replaced Philippe Senderos in the heart of defence and looked to have improved a leaky back four, only to undo all his good work when he shinned the ball into his on net to give the away side the lead early in the second half.

Fernando Amorebieta: 6
This was an improved performance after his torrid time at Liverpool a fortnight ago but he still has a long way to go to prove he is a worthy replacement for the injured Brede Hangeland.

Kieran Richardson: 6
The left-back also had a better game than in recent weeks, getting up and down the left flank far more effectively.

Scott Parker: 7
The midfielder was once again Fulham’s best player, working tirelessly to break up Swansea’s play and making a fine job of it for most of the match. Capped his showing with an unintended chip over the goalkeeper’s head to equalise – his first goal for the club.

Derek Boateng: 6
His inclusion was one of four changes, replacing Steve Sidwell who dropped to the bench, and he looked more mobile and energetic as the deepest-positioned player in manager Martin Jol’s new midfield diamond.

Pajtim Kasami: 6
Kasami also played deeper in midfield than usual but seemed to enjoy the role, often dictating the tempo of Fulham’s possession and movement.

Bryan Ruiz: 4
The Costa Rican had another very poor game. His touches were often heavy, his passing wayward and he was all too often shrugged off the ball. Ruiz seems to be lacking even more confidence than the rest of the team.

Dimitar Berbatov: 6
Berbatov is still struggling to find his feet this season and Swans defender Ashley Williams undoubtedly had the better of the Bulgarian. Berbatov worked harder than usual off the ball but missed an excellent chance in the first half.

Darren Bent: 5
Missed two fine chances in the first half. Bent is a seasoned finisher, but when he isn’t on scoring form it’s hard to see what else he adds.

Steve Sidwell: 5
Added little improvement when he replaced Boateng on 60 minutes and he allowed Jonjo Shelvey to wriggle away from him on the edge of the penalty area and send a fierce strike high into the net to win the game for Swansea.
