Fulham v Sheff Utd player ratings
Fulham’s miserable season took another turn for the worse as they were knocked out of the FA Cup by League One opposition. Here’s how we rated the players in their fourth-round replay defeat against Sheffield United.
David Stockdale: 6
Fulham’s second-choice keeper made an excellent save to deny John Brayford in the first half of extra time and he cannot be blamed for the last-minute winner nodded in by Shaun Miller, who was unmarked.
Josh Passley: 6
The promising youngster gave a decent account of himself whilst being given a tough time by the Blades left-sided pair Bob Harris and Stefan Scougall.
Brede Hangeland: 6
Hangeland was clearly low on confidence after his poor outing in the 3-0 defeat at home to Southampton on Saturday and Blades striker Chris Porter proved a real handful for him at times.
Dan Burn: 6
Burn had a better time of things than he did against the Saints but it was by no means a commanding performance. It looks likely he will lose his place to new arrival John Heitinga in the next game.
Fernando Amorebieta: 5
Clearly more comfortable at centre-half than left-back and on his return from injury he looked very rusty indeed.
Pajtim Kasami: 5
Like a number of other players, Kasami had a chance to reclaim a spot in the first team but he was clumsy on the ball and rarely a threat. A shot that shaved the paint from the outside of the post in extra time was his only highlight.
Scott Parker: 6
Parker was often left isolated in midfield by Muamer Tankovic’s natural urge to get forward and it allowed Sheffield United to pass their way through Fulham on a number of occasions.
Muamer Tankovic: 6
The youngster caught the eye in the third round tie with Norwich and he was able to get on the ball plenty in the first half against the Blades. He did little with it, however.
Alex Kacaniklic: 5
The Sweden international is another player desperate to claim a spot in the first team having been a bit-part player for most of the season but he was ineffectual against League One opposition playing out of their skin.
Clint Dempsey: 5
Dempsey was disappointing. He caused some problems for the visitors’ back four, drawing a number of fouls and winning free-kicks around the box, but on the ball he was wasteful and looks short of fitness.
Hugo Rodallega: 4
His reaction at being substituted on 59 minutes said it all. Rodallega was visibly upset as he left the pitch, possibly at his manager for taking him off or the Fulham fans for ironically cheering his exit, but more likely it was out of frustration at his own hapless performance up front.
Damien Duff: 6
Duff did his best to inject some life into Fulham when he arrived in place of Rodallega and threatened at times but he couldn’t win the game for the Whites all by himself.
Ashkan Dejagah: 6
Dejagah, having returned to full fitness, is surely another player looking to reclaim a place in the starting XI but he too showed little reason as to why he deserves it.
Steve Sidwell: 6
Sidwell was able to sure-up midfield when he came on for the tiring Parker, but he is another player who should be doing much, much better.
