Fulham v Everton player ratings
Steve Sidwell’s last-minute goal earned a point for Fulham despite Everton dominating much of the game at Craven Cottage. Here’s how we rated the Whites players in their 2-2 draw.
Mark Schwarzer: 8
Produced a couple of fine saves, not least when he dived to his left to keep out Maroane Fellaini’s volley to prevent Everton going 3-1 up. And it turned out to be a crucial save.
Sascha Riether: 6
Had some uncomfortable moments, especially when the brilliant Fellaini drifted out to the left. Stuck at it though and delivered a good cross for Fulham’s late equaliser.
Brede Hangeland: 6
Was caused problems by Everton’s dangerous front line. Was unlucky at the other end though when his second-half header went over.
Aaron Hughes: 5
Not one of his better games. Should have done better for Fellaini’s second goal.
John Arne Riise: 6
Looked a threat when he ventured forward but had his hands full defensively.
Alex Kacaniklic: 6
Talented youngster who’s learning all the time. Struggled to get into this game though before being withdrawn in the second half.
Chris Baird: 5
The fans’ favourite had an off day. Too often second best in midfield and was lucky not to be punished when Nikica Jelavic shot over after Baird had given the ball away in his own box.
Mahamadou Diarra: 5
Another who struggled to get to grips with Everton, who are particularly effective in the space between their opponents’ midfield and defence.
Damien Duff: 6
Had a quiet game on the flank.
Bryan Ruiz: 6
Had a stroke of luck for the opening goal, although his free-kick was well struck. Was a peripheral figure for much of a game that Everton dominated.
Dimitar Berbatov: 6
Showed his class at times but was quiet throughout, largely because of a lack of service. A bad miss in front of goal and was fortunate Steve Sidwell came in behind him to finish at the far post.
Ashkan Dejagah: 6
Spent much of his time chasing shadows after being brought on midway through the second half as Everton swept forward.
Steve Sidwell: 7
Did well after coming on and was rewarded for a surging late run into the box with the all-important equaliser.
