Picking up on reports in Portugal, the Star suggests the Blues see the 22-year-old as a replacement for Branislav Ivanovic, who is out of contract next summer.

The Star also links Chelsea with a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, following a report on ESPN’s Spanish-language website.

Reports in Spain, meanwhile, claim Atletico Madrid are considering triggering a release clause to bring Diego Costa back to the club from Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are once again being linked with a move for Fulham striker Moussa Dembele.

Sky Sports say United could make a bid for the 19-year-old during the January transfer window.
