Forest v QPR player ratings
QPR have never won at the City Ground and rarely looked like doing so in a fairly one-sided Boxing Day clash. Here’s how we rated the players in their 2-0 defeat – their second successive loss.
Rob Green: 5
Produced a good save in the first half and could do little about Forest’s opener. Very poor not to play to the whistle and make a meaningful attempt to save the second though, which he assumed would be ruled out for offside.
Danny Simpson: 6
Competed well but his distribution was wayward at times.
Richard Dunne: 5
Caught flat-footed on a couple of occasions. Harry Redknapp may now be tempted to start with the fit-again Nedum Onuoha.
Clint Hill: 6
An honest performance as always. Battled hard at the back and cleared off the line in the second half.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto: 6
Showed his quality going forward but needed to do more. Seemed to be going through the motions. There were also occasions when Rangers needed him to tuck inside and cover his overworked centre-backs, which he didn’t do.
Matt Phillips: 6
His touch was poor at times but he at least tried to make things happen. A frustrating night for the winger, who had been in good form.
Karl Henry: 5
Too slow in midfield and a mistake almost led to a Forest goal. For a ball-winning player he was beaten to the ball far too often before being replaced at half-time.
Tom Carroll: 5
Has ability and did his best to link play and put a foot in when needed. But he found himself chasing shadows when he didn’t have the ball and when he did have it he was put under immediate pressure. Missed the suspended Joey Barton alongside him.
Niko Kranjcar: 6
Struggling for fitness and form but did pose a threat, especially in the early stages of the second half. Went close with a couple of long-range efforts.
Jermaine Jenas: 5
Neat and tidy but not dynamic enough in an advanced midfield role he isn’t cut out for.
Bobby Zamora: 5
Looked every inch a man with a hip condition who was playing his first game since knee surgery. Totally ineffective before being replaced.
Andy Johnson: 6
On as a half-time substitute and offered more movement up front than Zamora but struggled to get into the game, barely even touching the ball for large parts of the second half.
Junior Hoilett: 6
Offered some pace and directness after coming on and his introduction helped Rangers make a lively start to the second half.
Nottingham Forest
Billy Davies’ side refused to be intimidated by the Championship title favourites, whose injury problems were put in perspective by the fact that Forest’s Greg Halford – a defender – gave them much more trouble as a makeshift striker than their attacking players were able to give the Reds defence at the other end. Andy Reid pulled the strings and former QPR man Jamie Mackie was typically full of running.

No support to striker in final third. Again. Play like we know we are good players without the boring bits of closing down and moving the ball quickly. Shake em up Harry .
