Transfer gossip: PSG’s Matuidi is wanted to replace Mikel, Star say
A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea..
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho wants Paris St-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi to replace John Mikel Obi, the Daily Star say.
The Star’s story comes after the transfer-gossip website TMW suggested that Mourinho is interested in signing 28-year-old midfielder Matuidi when the transfer window reopens in January.
It is also suggested that PSG would not be keen to sell but that the player could be tempted by a big-money offer.
Meanwhile, Chelsea plan to table a bid for Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou, French newspaper L’Equipe has reported.
It is claimed that the Blues will look to sign the Cameroon international, 25, in a cut-price deal in January. His Marseille contract expires next summer.
Marseille, it is claimed, will demand a fee of around £7.2m and would rather sell to an English club than one of their Ligue 1 rivals.
And the Daily Mail say John Terry remains confident of securing a new contract at Chelsea.
Terry’s current deal expires at the end of the season and his recent omission from the side has led to speculation about the 34-year-old defender’s future.
The Mail say sources close to Terry have suggested he is not panicking about the situation after being left out in favour of Kurt Zouma.
