Newcastle table £14m bid for QPR striker Austin, report claims

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea, QPR and Fulham…

Newcastle have made a £14m bid for Charlie Austin, the Daily Express say.

QPR are yet to receive any offers for the striker but there continues to be speculation over his future.

And the Express, which on Monday reported that Southampton had made £10m bid for Austin, say Newcastle are in ‘pole position’ to sign him and once again suggest that the Saints and Chelsea are also interested.

Rangers want £15m for Austin. Southampton have denied making an offer and have indicated they are not currently interested in the 25-year-old.

There has been much speculation over Austin’s future in recent weeks

Meanwhile, Arsenal, who are closing in on the signing of Chelsea keeper Petr Cech, could also make a move for Blues youngster Charly Musonda, the Daily Star say.

Picking up on reports in France, the Star reports that the 18-year-old Belgian youth international, who is yet to make his first-team debut for Chelsea, could join Cech at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Chelsea’s supposed interest in signing Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette has apparently been boosted by reports in France saying the striker’s new contract offer is not good enough.

The France international has been linked with a move to Liverpool as well as Chelsea and Metro say Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has now been alerted to news that the 24-year is not happy with the terms of a new deal.

Chelsea are facing competition from Arsenal and Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports German newspaper Bild.

The tabloid paper claims the Gunners have made an offer for the 26-year-old Gabon international.

There is further speculation about Chelsea duo John Obi Mikel and Mohamed Salah, with the Evening Standard suggesting Mikel is on the verge of joining United Arab Emirates-based club Al Ain and that Salah’s agent will meet with Fiorentina on Wednesday to thrash out a move.

Meanwhile, Manchester City may have to pay £10m if they want to sign Fulham’s Patrick Roberts, the Daily Mail suggests.

England youth international Roberts, 18, has long been a target for City, who are said to be prepared to pay the Whites £5m up front and the rest in add-ons.

And Fulham have declared an interest in Blackburn midfielder Tom Cairney, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
