Transfer gossip: Speculation over Phillips, Dembele, Smith and Diakite
A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s Championship clubs…
The Newcastle Chronicle reports that Newcastle have no interest in signing Matt Phillips.
The Daily Telegraph suggested earlier this week that the Magpies could turn their attention to Phillips if they are unable to agree a deal to sign Tottenham’s Andros Townsend.
The Chronicle say QPR winger Phillips is not being considered as a potential signing by Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Fulham want Tottenham to loan Moussa Dembele back to them for the rest of the season if they agree to sell the teenage forward to them this month, according to the Daily Mail.
A host of clubs, including Manchester United, are said to be interested in the 19-year-old, whose contract at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the campaign.
The Mail say Fulham and Spurs are discussing a potential deal and that Dembele has received offers from Monaco and Wolfsburg to sign on a Bosman free transfer this summer.
Bristol City are considering making a bid for Fulham striker Matt Smith, the Bristol Post reports.
Smith scored 13 goals in his 20 appearances for the Robins during a loan spell at Ashton Gate last season.
The Post say City believe they is a chance he would be allowed to leave if an offer is made.
And Brentford are interested in QPR’s Samba Diakite, it is claimed.
One of the many transfer-gossip websites say the Bees are considering a move for the midfielder, who has not played this season.
