Mourinho rebuffed after attempt to land Arsenal star, report claims

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea and QPR…

Jose Mourinho has been knocked back after an attempt to capture Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal in an exchange deal involving Petr Cech, the Daily Mirror say.

It is claimed that Chelsea manager Mourinho was keen to land the England international, 21, but that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger rejected the approach and wants to sign goalkeeper Cech for £10m.

The Daily Mail say Wenger is trying to sign Cech for £11m but that Mourinho does not want to sell to a Premier League rival and would rather the 32-year-old joined Paris St-Germain, who are apparently interested.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been linked with moves for midfielders Axel Witsel and Julian Draxler.

Belgium international Witsel, 26, is said to want to leave Zenit St. Petersburg and the Mirror claim both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in signing him.

Juventus are also monitoring Witsel, who cost Zenit £29m when he signed from Benfica in 2012.

The Daily Express pick up on reports in Germany which suggest Draxler is angling for a move abroad.

The Schalke midfielder, who has 15 caps for his country, is valued at £30m – and the Express believes this may price Arsenal out of a move, with Chelsea and United apparently more likely to launch a bid.

The Evening Standard claim QPR striker Charlie Austin will be a target for Mourinho even if Radamel Falcao joins.

However, the Evening Chronicle reports that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has sanctioned a £15m bid for Austin, while Southampton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are apparently also keen. Rangers are yet to receive any offers.

Gael Kakuta, Mohamed Salah, John Obi Mikel and Kurt Zouma are all being tipped to leave Stamford Bridge.

Sevilla have confirmed they expect to tie up a deal for Frenchman Kakuta on Tuesday, while reports in Italy suggest Salah has a long list of admirers.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim Fiorentina, who had the Egyptian on loan last season, met with Chelsea two weeks ago to discuss a move, but face competition from Tottenham, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Wolfsburg and Roma.

Mikel is being linked by the media in his native Nigeria with a switch to Dubai-based Al Ain, while the Italian press suggest Zouma could move to Sampdoria on loan.
